The author directed the campaign against hydrophobia (rabies) in Chile, caused by a serious epidemic and epizooty that developed gradually in that country, producing many victims amongst animáis, especially dogs and horses, as well as in men. In a fortnight he organized the Rabies (Hydrophobia) Section of the «Instituto de Investigaciones Veterinarias» reckoning upon a fair number of horses and sheep inoculated with fixed virus. He also liad at his disposal a first quantity of anti-rabic vaccine with which he vaccinated the threatened region. He experimented and elaborated the vaccine, and during the course of the campaign, 60 liters of same were prepared and applied; all dogs found in the infested area were sacrificed without hesitation. With these drastic measures and through an extensive radio campaign, etc., it has been possible to extermínate the rabies cases in the surprisingly short period of three weeks. 55.381 dogs and 257 animáis of other species were sacrificed in all.
